It’s that most wonderful time of the year again. The holidays are a special time when we get together with family and friends, watch holiday movie classics, eat lots of great food and reflect on our lives and what we want to accomplish or change in the coming year(s). It is during these times of reflection that we often make some of the biggest and most meaningful changes in our lives.
One of my favorite Christmas movies growing up was “It’s a Wonderful Life.” I was always amazed by how many lives George Bailey had impacted or changed and how different things would have been for everyone in Bedford Falls if he had not been born. Have you ever wondered what things would be like if you had never been born? It is an interesting thought but hard to actually envision but it is still interesting to think about.
We recently emailed you a piece regarding the passing of Charlie Munger. Many people might not know who Charlie was or are not familiar with his legacy. Most people in the investing world know him as Warren Buffett’s right-hand man and a brilliant investor. But I would like to touch on something even more important. It was his integrity and charitability and the legacy that he left.
During an interview with CNBC’s Becky Quick in 2018 Warren Buffett said, “Charlie has given me the ultimate gift that a person can give to somebody else. He’s made me a better person than I would have been….He’s given me a lot of good advice over time…I’ve lived a better life because of Charlie.”
